Site description

This perennial meadow on lower common in Buckley is one of  our naturally diverse sites. These naturally diverse sites already have a bank of wildflower seeds in the soil. By putting these sites under the correct management allows these wildflowers to flourish.

During the summer months you should be able to spot some of the following species.

Species present

Cowslip
(Primula veris)
Red Clover
(Trifolium pratense)
Bird's-foot Trefoil
(Lotus corniculatus)
Mouse-ear Chickweed
(Cerastium vulgatum)
Meadow buttercup
(Ranunculus acris)
Common Knapweed
(Centaurea nigra)

Management regime

This wildflower site is usually managed through one cut and collect a year between August and October. Cuttings are collected biannually when funding allows. This reduces fertility and subsequently; the ‘vigour’ of the grasses year on year, which favours the continued establishment of perennial flowering species.

Date last surveyed

01/08/2023

Notes: Continue existing management
