Site description

This perennial meadow was created on the urban green space in front of Connahs Quay Library using wildflower turf. This wildflower areas were created in 2021 using Lindum’s wildflower turf. During the summer months you should be able to spot some of the following species.

Meadowsweet
(Filipendula ulmaria)
Field Scabious
(Knautia arvensis)
Bladder Campion
(Silene vulgaris)
Birds-foot Trefoil
(Lotus corniculatus)
Salad Burnet
(Sanguisorba Minor)
Red Campion
(Silene dioica)

Management regime

This wildflower site is usually managed through one cut and collect a year between August and October. It is essential that cuttings are collected and removed. This reduces fertility and subsequently; the ‘vigour’ of the grasses year on year, which favours the continued establishment of perennial flowering species.
