Site description

Two perennial meadows were created in Hawarden cemetery, one on the north side and one on the south of the site using wildflower turf. This wildflower area was created in 2021 using Lindum’s wildflower turf. During the summer months you should be able to spot some of the following species.

Species present

Selfheal

Red Campion
(Silene Dioica)
Field Scabious
(Knautia arvensis)
Cowslip
Primula Veris
Birdsfoot Trefoil
(Lotus Corniculatus)
Yarrow

Management regime

This wildflower site is usually managed through one cut and collect a year between August and October. It is essential that cuttings are collected and removed. This reduces fertility and subsequently; the ‘vigour’ of the grasses year on year, which favours the continued establishment of perennial flowering species.

Date last surveyed

24/06/2024

Notes: Continue existing management
